Structure

The “Research Project in Genomic Medicine” is a remote, literature-based research course that provides participants with the flexibility to work independently while receiving guidance from experienced supervisors. Participants will select a research topic related to genomic medicine and conduct a thorough literature review over the course of the program. The course is structured around weekly virtual meetings with a dedicated supervisor, where participants will discuss their progress, receive feedback, and refine their research direction. These one-on-one sessions ensure that participants stay on track and are supported throughout the research process. In addition to the weekly meetings, participants will have access to a range of online resources to assist with their literature review. At the end of the course, participants will submit a comprehensive written report summarizing their findings and will have the opportunity to present their research to peers and supervisors. This course structure promotes both independent learning and collaboration, providing a strong foundation for future academic or professional research in genomic medicine.

Teaching and Assessment

Research and Assessment

Throughout the “Research Project in Genomic Medicine” course, students will be assessed based on the quality of their research and their ability to analyze and communicate their findings. Weekly meetings with supervisors will offer guidance and feedback, ensuring that students stay on track as they conduct their literature reviews. The primary assessment will be a final research report, where students will summarize key insights from their literature review, identify gaps in the existing research, and discuss potential clinical applications of their findings. In addition to the written report, students will present their research in a final presentation, showcasing their ability to clearly communicate their findings to an audience.

Students will be evaluated on:

The depth and thoroughness of their literature review Their ability to critically analyze and synthesize research findings The clarity and structure of their written report The effectiveness and engagement of their final presentation This course aims to foster independent research skills, while providing students with the support needed to ensure their work is both rigorous and impactful.
